Orthodontic
Orthodontics is the process of correcting imbalances caused by tooth movement and restoring abnormal tooth alignment, including crooked teeth and gum disease due to poor oral hygiene and gum disease in the area of abnormal tooth movement, by attaching orthodontic appliances to press down on the teeth, resulting in movement in the desired direction and regular alignment.
Causes of orthodontics
Genetic causes: Caused by the transmission of characteristics from parents to children, such as
- number of teeth, too few or missing teeth
- Disproportion in the size of teeth and spacing
Environmental causes: Caused by various factors, such as
- Certain habits such as thumb sucking, nail biting, tongue thrusting, mouth breathing
- Premature extraction of baby teeth
- Loss of teeth and lack of replacement teeth causing teeth to fall out
